Time has gone on since man has left the land we call earth, the continents have merged created another Pangaea, but according to us we'd like to call it The Equinox. It is our revelation, and we have chosen to take the place of man, hooves over feet. The streets are cracked and the buildings crumbling with the remembrance of age, the wilderness leaking its way in the hierarchy of the sky scrappers. We ourselves have no alliances, only colonies formed like large kingdoms, our lands are split by the winds, and our hearts are hunted by all the beasts.
part I : the tale
My name is Sarabi, I'm a Mustang x Astrologia cross of the Corner Band, and I also reside as it's Queen. The tale of the Equinox is an ancient tale that has been passed down the generations. The original story was told by my great great grandmother, Ora, who had witnessed it herself. Through all that was happening, no body could predict another Pangaea, which is now known as The Equinox. The last Pangaea happened millions of years ago, when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. It is known as a super continent. Simply put, it is a large mass of land that is created when all continents of the Earth form together. This leaves just two oceans, and one continent. It's a different world from what it used to be. A horse's life has become longer, and more prosperous without man running about trying to capture or kill us. Our culture has changed as well. No longer are we labeled by our alliance. The alliances are long dead, which creates less wars between the new labels called Winds. Winds are divided by location. Where you come from labels you, as well as your breed and your attitude. How did this all start? Well as Ora had told it, it all started with the end of the alliances.
part II : the war of the alliances
Everyone knows of the everlasting war between the Lights and the Darks. The Neutrals have been said to be stuck in the middle between all this. A great war had broken out. All over the world, Darks and Lights were in war. The Neutrals were asked to chose a side, many sided with the lights, the others (less than half of the Neutral population) sided with the darks. This differences with the Neutrals had created two more alliances, the Fates and the Winds. The Winds were on the Light's side, while the Fate's sided with the darks. The Lights were led by a Hanoverian Stallion called Rojo. Rojo was a stallion of wisdom and strength, but his lack of leadership didn't do the Lights too well, and the Generals ended up having to make all the moves for the Lights. The Darks were led by a Mustang Mare called Ora, yes the very same Ora that runs in my blood. She was a strong mare, very much like the Wind's, in fact the Wind's leader was taught Ora's ways at a young age. She was cunning and although small was very sturdy. She had to be one of the best leaders of the war, a terrible backstabbing led to the Dark's loss in the favor of the Wind's. The Fate's were led by a Latvian Stallion called Kazakh whose blood runs heavily on the Equinox. He was a heavier stallion with just brute force, and little agility. Although he was very original with his tactics and great endurance. Wind's were led by a Astrologia Mare called Ika. She was a random mare with outstanding talent and found herself leading the neutrals into the break and ended up leading the Wind's into the war. She fit the Wind's description perfectly and was the wisest of them all. She was taught by Ora, and therefor spared Ora's life and allowed her to rule below her after the war. She was an amazing mare, everyone agreed. Her blood runs inside of me as well. After the war was over, the rest of the population sided with the Winds. This destroyed alliances altogether. Their calm, peaceful style of the lights meshed perfectly with the Dark's hardcore attitude. They were not like the old neutrals, but more so influenced by the culture of the Lights and the Darks. The Fates were all killed late into the war, along with most of the Lights and half of the Darks. The Winds, only suffered a 1/4 loss in the war. Their culture seemed to open their eyes to new wisdom the others had been too blind to see. The Winds seemed to become apart of nature. They could disappear in the middle of a field, and blend in with any environment. They were fast and agile, with strength of a draft horse. They could run for miles and miles on mud and not leave a single track or a scent. They were the most skilled of all the equines. It goes along with natural selection, the ones with the more favorable traits survive.
part II : the winds With the extinction of the alliances, The Winds was less of an alliance but still followed along the same lines. The Winds was just a label for horses, and the only label out there, for quite some time. After some time, different characteristics began to tear apart the winds. People began to dislike the way you looked and where you came from. Your attitude was just the last straw. Ika knew the Winds were falling apart. Seeing a civil war in the near future, she divided the winds on location and the types of horses that lived there. Before she gave these new divisions, large herds of horses stuck to one location and shared the common characteristics. This realization helped Ika divide the Winds. In the end, the Winds were divided into 5 different types of Winds and 1 band. The North, South, East, West, and Northeast Winds were created, as well as the Corner Band, my own Wind.
part III : the north wind The band has been extinct for many years, left over horses still pledge themselves to these winds, but their lands are gone, merged with the Northeast.
The North Wind has always been located in snowy places. For example, they are located on what would be Greenland, Iceland, Alaska, and Canada. Because of this, the North Wind is a very sturdy and similar to draft breed. They are also the most divided of the Winds. They are spread out all over the Equinox, staying only in the snowy regions. No one can tell why they preferred this, or maybe they once knew and it was lost in the generations somewhere. These horses tend to be breeds like Icelandic, Frederiksborg, and Suffolk Punch. These horses range in size and are all thick coated. Because of their location, food is harder to find so they will venture into other Wind's territories to scavenge for food. They are the wisest of the Winds and also the most peaceful. They are kind people with open arms to anyone and are the closest to the old Light alliance for their kind hearted nature. Much of Kazakh's blood runs inside these horses, but luckily not his temperament. These horses are the least to participate in wars and are also the least to get called into one. But for their often laziness, they are not well liked. Alliances: Northeast Wind, South Wind Enemies: Western Wind, Corner Band
part IV : the south wind dark
South Wind horses were once the most populated of the Winds. They have always been located in what would be Africa. These horses are of lighter breeds and have the most endurance and adaptability of the Winds due to the region's different terrains. They live in anything from deserts to forests and are one of the more diverse of the Winds. Horses here usually consist of breeds like any kind of Arabians, Criollo, and Akhal Teke. Because of their exposure to sunlight, these horses are rarely of dark colors like Black or dark bay. Most of them are duns, chestnuts, and bays. These horses are never seen in white either (although they can be grey), and if they are they live short lives and are very common to die of cancer. These horses are not known to be the nicest of the groups. They tend to be spoiled and snobbish and too proud of themselves. But they are also a very giving group, and one with many alliances. They are smart and quick on their feet and with outstanding endurance. The South Wind is also one of the quietest of the Winds. They are well known to stay in their own business and not start too much trouble. They are very loyal to their leader and each other and are the least well known for their betrayals. Over they ages some of them have slowly changed over from being less snobby and a bit more generous, but still remain very futile and rude to those they do not trust. Alliances: Corner Band, North Wind, Western Wind Enemies: Northeast Wind
part VI : the west wind The wind was pushed aside and taken over by the Northeast wind, no longer does it exist, horses left over from the alliance still roam.
The West Wind has been a ever expanding Wind. Once in the Southern part of North America and Australia, they have worked their way over to the western parts of North America. Still many remain in what was what Australia and the islands that has surrounded it. They consist of big horses that go from 15hh-19hh. And they can consist of any large, fast breed like Thoroughbreds, Hanoverian, and Oldenburghs. As you can tell, it is mainly a sport horse breed, but there are exceptions. These horses are the closest to the old Dark alliance, with the Corner Band right behind them. They tend to be mean spirited and head strong. But this is one of the most powerful groups on The Equinox, and are the fastest of them all. Although of somewhat Dark nature, these horses are very heavily related to Rojo. Because of this heavy relation, many of them resemble Rojo's chestnut color. But they can also be seen in bays and blacks, but never lighter colors than chestnut. Being the meanest of the Winds, they are not well liked at all and often have the most enemies. Alliances: Northeast Wind, North Wind Enemies: East Wind, South Wind, Corner Band
part VII : the northeast wind lights
The Northeast Wind originally was settled on Japan, but soon spread out onto most of Asia and Europe. They have the biggest territory and are also the most diverse in their culture, and breeds. These horses can be anything from Friesian to Morgans to Camargue. They range in size and color and almost everything else. These horses are the strongest and most powerful of the Winds and tend to be one of the sturdier Winds as well. They have been the dominant wind for quite some time, but now have leveled out with the other Winds. These horses can be kind and caring or head strong and pushy. They are great leaders but awful followers and often rather think for themselves. They are the most independent from their rulers and leads and also the most outgoing and outspoken. They've always been a force to be reckoned with, but have a high betrayal rate and have to be the least loyal of the winds. Even still, they will always be one of the top Winds to deal with. Alliances: Corner Band, Western Wind Enemies: South Wind, North Wind
part VIII : the corner band east wind, loners
The Corner Band is the newest of the Winds. It is settled on all of what was South America. The Corner Band are one of the most diverse in their breeds, right below the Northeast Wind. Breeds can include anything like Paints, Orlov Trotter, and Welsh Cobs. Ponies, feral breeds, and sturdy horse breeds like the Shetland, Brumby, and the Mustang, are now also accepted into the Corner Band. Mainly any light breed, pony breed, and sturdy or feral breed is included here, including some that are also allowed in other winds. Sport horses may also be found here. Such as QHs, for they can also be considered a "sturdy" breed. These horses are the closest thing to the original Wind alliance, for having not changed much of the culture (unlike the others). These horses are the most cunning of the Winds and are outstanding in many fields. Just like the original Winds, they can hide in any terrain and can leave no trace of where they've been. The only difference from the original Wind is that they have stepped away from the Light perspective, and have taken on a more dark attitude. They are commonly known to be stubborn, strong headed, rude, and mean spirited, and often enjoy getting into other's business. They're personality is what a dark's would be. They aren't as evil as the Western Winds are, but are pretty close to it. They hold a very strong bond with the Northeast Wind, and are also one of the strongest Winds to deal with. Alliances: Northeast Wind, South Wind, Western Wind Enemies: North Wind
part IX : life today
Generations have gone by without wars. There have been disputes, of course, between the Winds but nothing more. Winds have been unstable since they have been created and are just really settling in. Alliances and enemies are changing almost seasonly, the the Winds have finally become happy with their land. Many Winds have been leaderless for generations, but now that is all changing. Each Wind needs two leaders, a king and a queen, just like how it used to be with the alliances. Currently, most Winds need both except the South Wind and the Corner Band.
Things are peaceful and quiet as of now, and many are just waiting for newcomers to join the Winds, and for leaders to step up and take their throne.
